Defiant baby

Hi girls!

I have a veery defiant 14 month old. He has a gigantic attitude and he has a lot of outbursts. Probably getting warmed up for the terrible-twos. He’s very communicative when angry even tho he doesn’t really talk. He just aggressively grunts at you and stares u down lol. He also answers a lot in his grunting when you’re trying to scold him and when you say no. He’s for the most part uncooperative and 99% of the time doesn’t follow instructions even when he does understand what you’re telling him (but then again, what 1 year old is?😂). Thankfully, he’s not physically aggressive. He’s only hit about 1-2 times and has never bitten me. I wonder if anyone has tips on disciplining him effectively. I don’t believe in physical punishment and time outs are not necessarily something he can understand soon. He’s also adjusting to going to school and being away from me since I’ve been a SAHM up until 3 weeks ago so I know that it’s also a factor to his moods and behavioral issues lately and I’ve been trying to be understanding but I feel like at this point I should start intervening in some way since it’s getting to be a bit much. He’s never been a pleasing-baby. Rarely ever did what he was asked even tho he understood lol. He’s the type of “If I don’t feel like it, I’m not gonna do it, girl.” 😂 so that isn’t as new. But his defiance and angry mood is something that I feel needs addressing and I don’t want to do it the wrong way or have it be ineffective. TIA!
