Pet insurance?

Is getting your pet on health insurance worth it? Does it help with vet bills? If so what type of insurance is best?

I had Pet’s Best and it was like 48.00 per month for two dogs. I paid for about three years so 1728.00 and only used it once for about 300.00. I cancelled it after that. Because if I would’ve just put 50.00 a month in a savings account for them it would’ve been better for me. I do accounting so I always look at things in a financial way. Except for one incident, my dogs haven’t had any serious accidents or illness.

We have Pets Best and we’re so thankful for it. Even if you do have a young and or healthy pet, just like for the non-fur babies, they get hurt. In the three years that we’ve had our dog, we’ve had to visit for a bee sting in the eye, sprain leg (from being too excited about pottying), neutering, etc. Shop around, there are plans out there that meets a wide range of financial situations.

I do have my dog insured and boy am I glad for it. I pay around $25 / month, and when something happens I pay a deductible of $150 and then I pay 15% of the total amount that is left after the deductible. When pets do get sick it's crazy expensive. Even though I have a healthy dog of a healthy breed, he has still gotten sick a few times and needed some minor surgeries. I would not have been able to pay the whole thing by myself out of pocket without insurance.

I definitely think putting money into a savings account automatically is a better idea. I've had animals my whole life and only one of them was ever expensive.
