Hiccups?

Anyone else’s babies hiccuping a lot? I’m 34+4 and my baby hiccups about twice a day, but they last a while. 10ish min at a time. I’m a little worried bc I read that too much hiccuping this late could mean her cord could be compressed or prolapsed 😳 I hate that I can’t relax and enjoy this process bc everything worries me!

My baby hiccups 2-3 times a day for 10-15 min. I also brought this up to my doctor and he says it’s normal and means baby’s lungs are getting stronger. She started a few weeks ago and still hiccups like crazy. I’m currently 38 weeks.

When I was pregnant my son hiccupped twice a day, at the same times everyday. He would hiccup at 10 am for about 10-15 minutes and then at around 6-7ish for about 20 minutes. He would also move to the same spot to have his hiccup session. Then move once he was done. I didn't know about the cord thing and thought it was cute and found it comforting.

This baby doesn't get them near as much, but I swear my first baby had them all day every day. Totally normal! And every babies going to be a little different.

2-3 times a day is not only normal, but a good sign, they're practicing breathing and doing a good job. I just wish mine would get both daily bouts in waking hours rather than lunch time and midnight 🙄

My second baby did at least once a day and he was fine (almost 2 now). This one is similar so I’m not as worried.

When baby practises it’s breathing movements it swallows amniotic fluid and that’s what causes the hiccups. It’s perfectly normal and a good thing as baby’s lungs are getting ready to do their thing

Mine does im now 38+5 I asked the midwife about it they said it was normal
