What do you do when...

Question

Your baby skips their last nap of the day? I have a 5 and half month old and she’s been a pretty predictable routine/schedule since about 2 months old. Her last nap ends around 4/5 and she’s in bed between 7-8. But what do you do when your baby has an off day? Do you put them to bed earlier than usually and just hope they don’t wake up too early or do you let them have a late nap and then bedtime later?

I try to keep him up until as close to bedtime as I can.

I keep my son up until his bedtime if he misses his last nap. The one time I didn’t and put him to bed early he was up at 4:30am, never doing that again lol

I try to keep my daughter up if she skips her nap. She'll go to sleep and then wake up at like midnight ready to party if I don't keep her up.

I usually do late nap and later bedtime . When he was younger now that he’s older I would keep him up .

Just put him to bed when he showing signs of being tired… Rubbing eyes, yawning, etc.… it might be a bit earlier, but if you wait too long, baby will be overtired and be harder to get to sleep or will have a hard time staying asleep.￼

Try to keep them up as long as you can without making them overtired. It usually means 30 minutes early or so for us. We are very close to making the 2-1 nap transition, so we have had lots of skipped naps or 20 minute naps during this time.
