I was scrolling Insta and another smaller influencer got called out. She apologized saying at the time she thought it was ok but stopped 5 years ago. Everyone was still mad. It makes me feel like you can’t even mess up and that all progress is invalid.

I hate to say it but I grew up in a town that was 90% white and it had a nickname called all white town. Almost every black and white student said the N word or at least posted on Twitter or Insta calling their friends the N word and I was one of them. No one told us to stop and our school allowed kids to sport confederate flags and black history was rarely talked about. It’s embarrassing for me to say that I didn’t fully realize how bad the word was it was till I was 20-21 when I moved out of my small town, I’m 24 now. I haven’t used the word in 3.5 years and have since educated myself. To me I don’t resonate with my old self and I believe I’ve made amazing progress and it’s embarrassing, but I was wondering who else has used it before
