pumped milk after breastfeeding

i’m only getting 2-4 oz after feedings and i’m going back to work soon.. I want to produce way more and i’m feeding on demand every 2-3 hrs.. baby is 6 weeks today. lately i’ve only been able to pump exactly what she eats. how can I increase? I pump after feedings so I felt like i’d have way more by now

Being able to pump 2-4 Oz after feedings is already an oversupply!! When away from baby you need to pump every time baby eats, in theory you'll then get what baby eats + that extra (doesn't work exactly that way as baby is more efficient than a pump, but you get the point).

2-4oz on top of breastfeeding baby is fantastic. 1-3oz from both breast is in normal range. I can’t pump hardly anything after breastfeeding baby. I’m thankful to make just enough to strictly breastfeed. If you want to increase supply then keep feeding and pumping. Also drink tons of water!

If you're getting that after feedings, you're actually doing great because that's leftovers! You can try power pumping if you want. That always helps me make more.

Pumping after nursing is extra milk! Once you go back and miss nursing sessions you’ll most likely pump what baby was taking in and the extra you have made your body think you need. There is no reason to need more. You don’t need a big stash to go back to work. I just had about 4 days work frozen to give me a head start.

That’s after nursing, so technically you have an oversupply. I wouldn’t worry. When u go back to work and she isn’t nursing, u will pump enough to make up for missed feeds to replace ur stash. Ur supply will continue to increase if u keep pumping after nursing as well. Just keep doing what ur doing.
