So Penelope is my June baby & she just is not a fan of utensils. She will use her spoon if I give it to her but she flips it upside down & it spills. Then she will put the spoon upside down to pick stuff up but obviously the non-scooping end won’t pick anything up. Are y’all have trouble with utensils? Are y’all still struggling? My pediatrician is really trying to make sure she is using it, but she just wants to use her fingers. Any help?

I don’t care if they use utensils properly as long as they are touching their food and it makes it in their mouth that’s all I care about 💗

I was told as long as they know how that’s all that matters 🤷‍♀️ touching food actually helps them to want to eat it

Aria is good with forks/spoons but I'd just give her one every meal time. Eventually she will work it out 😊 we didn't do anything I particular to help her other than show her. At the start she would try for maybe one time and then eat the rest with her hands, everytime she dropped it over the side of the high chair I'd pick it back up and give it to her. Then she just used it for longer and longer but honestly DONT STRESS! They aren't going to be eating with their hands forever! 😊

Utensils at our place are only good for stirring and pouring food all over the place. Once in a blue moon will it find it's way towards the mouth but midway, change its mind. This is because my son doesn't want to eat. He wont try the food even if i am the one holding the utensil. And this then leads to me always trying to feed him if i want him to eat at all which in turn leads to him not getting enough practice. Honestly i will worry about utensil use after i conquer the eatting problem. One bridge at a time. Am waiting to see what his doctor will say about this. Lol

My daughter did this with her utensils and I gave up one day and gave her our adult silverware. She still uses her hands sometimes but I think she was getting frustrated with the smaller ones not picking stuff up as well so she flipped them over. Not sure if your baby does it with adult ones too
