EDIT: all of the responses is making me LOL. Haha I know I sound crazy, but when I saw all that dirt for sure I decided soaking is best for me. I’ve used washers in the past but seen dye and dirt still come out of my undies when hand washing. It’s comforting to know that many people prefer the washer. I felt kind of dirty washing my undies that way. So at least Im not embarrassed as much anymore. I know this method is very time consuming especially because I work in a nursing home and have two kids.

My friend and I were talking about washing clothes. She is from Guyana. She tells me that she doesn’t wash her underwear with her clothes in the washing machine. She says it’s gross. I agree with her but I didn’t always wash my underwear that way.

It wasn’t until I got older that I realized I was washing my undies with clothes that have been in contact with outside objects. (Yeah, I’m embarrassed how late I caught onto that.) So, I started washing my undies by hand as soon as I took them off. Then I realized that wasn’t enough. So one day out of the week, I soaked my undies in a bucket with free/clear laundry detergent. I saw all the dirt come out of my bras and panties. I felt disgusted knowing my underwear wasn’t clean all the way. I’m glad I decided to do this. The truth is, even if I were to put my undies in the washing machine by itself, I would never know it’s clean all the way. So my routine now includes soaking my underwear at the end of each week. What methods do you use?
