Did you tell people your baby's name before it was born?

We have multiple passive aggressive family members and I frankly don't want to hear any of their snide remarks for the next 5 months. That's why we're not telling.

I did and I regret it. I definitely won't with my next baby. People can be way too honest and don't think about your feelings....especially your pregnant feelings lol my sons name is Declan. It's a very old Irish name and we felt it was the perfect name for us. It fit everything we wanted and we both genuinely love the name. A few family members told us it was ugly, horrible, the worst name they've heard and my favourite "well you still have time hopefully you will change your mind". My advice....keep the name to yourself unless your ready to head everyone else's critisism.

Me and my other half have had names chosen for a few years. For when we do conceive And we've not told any one although a girl I used to work with called her daughter. Lily which is one of the names we liked. So we can't use that now.

We told people when we finally decided on a name for our daughter, but I don't think I'd do it for my next baby (hopefully a boy!). Before I found out what I was having I was brain storming names with my 'best' friend and she took both the names I liked and announced them to people as HER potential baby names (she was only like 1 month pregnant while I was 4 months) and named her son one of them. My boyfriend and I ended up picking a different name, but that's not the point.

We already have a name picked out for our boy and I refuse to tell anyone other than my direct family members (not even his family), so that no one can try and take his name. It'll be a year or two before we TTC again because we plan on moving to a different state, I'd like to be married and we need to be financially ready, but I have my heart set on this name so when it happens we'll be ready lol

I did and I regret it. When you tell people the name before it's born, they feel like they have to comment on it or make suggestions. When my husband and I told the name, we were 100% set on it, and weren't open to suggestions. I didn't like hearing everyone's opinion.

To some people i did but if you are like me and like the creativity of names and dont like others having or using your baby's name i would only tell certain ppl 
   Before i had a baby i had a girls name i wanted to name my daughter i told evetyone and wouldnt ya know 3 people named their daughters the same name had they not been people i hung out with i wouldnt have thought much about it since the name Nevaeh did come popular. but when i was 15, 14 years ago i never heard of it b4 until a friend and i was spelling things backwards .. So i wouldnt tell everyone if u want it to b a surprise or dont want others using it

I decided to tell my grandma over the phone who is like my mom that I wanted to name my Daughter Waylon, when I was like 7 months along......(I love johnny cash and wanted a Gender Neutral name, but I couldn't name my daughter Johnny!)  she then decided to Tell me how Stupid of a name it was and basically how disappointed she would be in me if I named MY child Waylon. 
I sobbed like a little baby for a good half hour because I was so hurt that she said if I named her Waylon all she would ever do is wale. 
We didn't have a name for her until 3 days before her arrival.... because I was still dead set on Waylon. 
But Our Beautiful little girls name is Leighton, and honestly everyone in the family loves it and it fits her perfect!!

It kinda annoys me when people refuse to announce the name before the baby is born. We have know what name we wanted for years for a boy so when we found out we just told everyone because what's the big deal? It's the name we chose so why not tell people? We have 5 or 6 people we know in our group that are pregnant and almost all of them are keeping the names secret. Idk I guess I just don't get the point.
