Would you all trust/use facebook to find a roommate?

Question

I’m on the hunt for a roommate to live with to help split the bills. Have looked at some websites but I’m not really in a financial position to pay a small fee on most of them to be able to chat with someone. Is facebook reputable enough for roommate finding that I should get it? 
Bonus- what site(s) did you use to find a roommate? 
Any input is greatly appreciated!

So not me personally but I've seen countless of my friends look for roommates in Facebook. I think I would be okay with this because maybe a friend of a friend needs a roommate too. At least a friend can vouch for the potential roommate 🤷🏻‍♀️. Idk. The thought of using like Craigslist or something to look for a roommate makes me uneasy. You could also see if there are any community Facebook pages for the town you live in and post there to see if anyone needs a roommate or something

Ask the place you want to rent from if they help find roommates or know of anyone looking for a roommate. If they do it maybe they will lease to each of you separately so if things go sour you’re still on your own lease.
