Timing on Retrieval ?

Hi All!

So this may be a naive question, I’m CD 5 of my first <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">ivf</a> cycle, and keep going back and forth on this. Wondering when your doctors confirmed which day your retrieval would be scheduled? Is there a milestone, or specific set of days in the cycle that the decision was made?

I know trying to control a schedule is ridiculous but having milestones of information is just so helpful for me.

Like lots of people said. I found out 2 days before retrieval. I had an estimated retrieval day, but it ended up being one day later. It was my CD 15 and I did stims for 11 days.

They should be able to give you a range of dates based on what they know so far, but you won’t get the exact date confirmed until 2 days prior. My actual retrieval ended up being 1 day earlier than the earliest date in the window I was given up front.

Everyone's protocol is different.  I had 10 days of stims with an US on day 1, day 5 and day 7 (if needed).

Depends first on if you are doing a fresh or frozen transfer. For a medicated  frozen cycle, my doctor scheduled a lining check for me around CD 14. If my lining was thick enough they scheduled my transfer for the following week. I did have a few cycles where I didn't have thick enough lining and I had to do another week of meds before they scheduled my transfer. My doctor looks for a lining of 8 mm or greater. The timing will be different if you are doing a natural cycle, but I have always been on Estrace so I don't know what that schedule looks like. Good luck to you!

I'm on BC right now. I am starting Lupron March 1st and starting stims March 5th. Possible retrieval date will be March 16-20. Like other person said, depends on how your body reacts to the stims. A good guess it will be about 2 weeks of stims before retrieval, but could be several days less than that or more than that. But 2 weeks is a good ball park estimate
But don't worry, as you go in for your ultrasounds every other day, your nurse will tell you "looks like we're getting close" or might estimate how much longer it will be

It all depends how your body reacts to the medicine. They want your follicles a certain size. For reference my retrieval was CD 15.
