Did a membrane sweep work for you?

Question

My doctor mentioned that she can do a membrane sweep to get things moving a long at my next appointment (37 weeks) or the following one (38 weeks) I told her that I would think about it. I don’t know much about it other than some women say it hurts. Can you give me the good, the bad, and the ugly on it?!

Check out this video. My take away from it is it’s Probably worth waiting until you go past your due date.
They work! They move delivery up 1-4 days on average. But they can make labor longer and more painful because your body isn’t ready. 
Also there is a 1 in 10 change they accidentally break your water so that means there is a 1 in 10 chance you’d be push to have a full medical induction to deliver within the 24 hour period after water breaks. 
Really a question of how much medical intervention you want and if you want to kick off that process as early as 37/38 weeks.
Women on average call it a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale and some described it as worse than contractions.

I had a sweep at 40w3d and went into labor a few hours later. I don’t think I’d do a sweep earlier than 40 weeks though because they usually don’t work that early unless your body and baby are ready to go.

I’m 36 + 5 and as of yesterday I’m 2cm dilated. If I don’t go into labor by my next apt my doc said he can do a membrane sweep. I had my first at 37 +3. And that was all natural, at my 37 week apt I was only 1cm and 3 days later my water broke.

It was uncomfortable for me. I had it done with my second, the first time nothing happen. Second time at 39 weeks I was in labor the next day. Baby actually ended up coming out still in the sac, not sure if it was because of the sweep but I feel like it was. I would possibly consider doing it again this round if I dilated early again.

I had one at 39 weeks and went into labour the next day. It didn’t hurt much! However idk if it made my labour worse, I ended up having to have pitocin as my contractions weren’t strong enough and my water had broken.

I was in padromal labor for about two weeks. My first pregnancy baby came in 6.5 hours so my midwife put me on bedrest when my padromal labor came on. At 37 weeks 3 days she came over before the big storm and gave me a sweep and baby was here in 7 hours. Labor was smoother than my first but did take a hair longer. Has we not had that giant storm coming I’m not sure I would had done it but I wanted to ensure I got my second home birth.
