Anyone else test positive for group strep B?

This is my fourth baby and this is the first time I’ve tested positive.
They haven’t give me any information on what direction they go in. They kind of treated me like it was common knowledge but I’m still confused.  I had a tooth infection and just did two rounds of amoxicillin, wouldn’t that be enough to get rid of it? I hope I’m not sounding dumb but this is still new to me.

No you have to have the IV antibiotics pumping in your system when you give birth. That means every four hours you get a dose for as long as you are in labor. At least that’s how it was for me. I had just finished amoxicillin the day before my induction. Didn’t matter had to have the specific IV antibiotics anyways. It didn’t end up being a big deal was just a nuisance. Apparently about 40% of people have the group b strep and you can have it once and not the next time just kind of depends.

I tested positive too and in general it’s not a big deal but I want to have a natural / physiological labor and being hooked up to an IV for hours is not ideal. I’m sorta freaking out. My birth prep was all about movement and now I’m going to be tethered to an IV for 4 hours. 🤦‍♀️ I think if your game plan is epidural though, it’s pretty inconsequential and may not even notice the difference. 
The way I understand it is the research supports needing to be on it for 4 hours prior to delivery so the dosing is 4 hours of drip and an hour break and then 4 more hours of drip. They have tried oral antibiotics or shorter drips but they weren’t nearly as effective at reducing the transfer of GBS to baby. And GBS can start repopulating almost immediately after antibiotics are stopped so prior treatment isn’t effective. So most hospitals do the 4,1,4,1 labor drip protocol. 
I’m not thrilled 🙄 but it’s just one of those thing. At least we’re in it together! 🙂

I tested positive too. And did with my other two, but they just give you IV antibiotics

You have IV antibiotics. I tested positive 2nd pregnancy and didn't receive the antibiotics because I was crowning when I arrived at the hospital. VERY fast labor! I also tested positive this time, my doc said the antibiotics will take 4 hours. He just told me to not labor at home for too long, but try to get to the hospital sooner than later.

Same with me, 4th baby & tested positive. They said when you go into labor, they'll give you antibiotics. Thats all

I was last time , not this time. It wasn’t a huge deal at al. Just got some medicine through an IV

I don’t think it’s a big deal, as far as I know, you’ll just need an extra bag of antibiotics
