When will you announce your pregnancy?

With my first pregnancy I announced right away. I was 20 years old and so excited. Fast forward 5 years. We are going to be trying for baby number 2. I dont think I want to announce right away again. I am trying to decide when to announce. I will be getting the genetic DNA testing on the new baby (whenever we get pregnant) around 10 weeks. We should know the gender about 2 weeks after that. My best friend wants to do a gender reveal party for me. How would that work if I am just announcing my pregnancy??

I've always announced right away. I try to be as transparent as possible with my infertility/pregnancy losses/pregnancies as possible. It's still so taboo to talk about but progress is being made. In the past 10 years I've been pregnant 4 times. 5 yrs 1 month to my first, miscarried at 5 weeks. 2 yrs 1 month to our daughter. She'll be 3 at the end of March. 1 yr 2 months to our third. Missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. 1 year 2 weeks to our fourth. I'm 5 weeks pregnant today. I spent the first year TTC being real quiet about everything. Second year I opened up a bit more. And then it just snowballed from there because I had a lot more friends and family opening up to me privately to talk about how it's helped them not to feel so alone in their personal struggles. Because they've spent so long staying quiet about it and feeling so alone with everything. That just pushed me to keep being more and more open about it and here we are. They've been through the last 10 years of it with me. The struggles. The heartbreaks. The tears. The triumphs. I couldn't imagine being so open about everything just to hide parts of it later on. No matter what happens, they're with me. And I'm with them.

With our first we told family and closest friends between 12-14 weeks and then made public after our anatomy scan around 22 weeks. 
We waited until 12-14 weeks with our family and closest friends this time again. We still aren’t sure if we are doing a public announcement with this baby yet.

We told close family and friends already but we’re also getting the gender via blood test at 10 weeks. So that will be when we announce it publicly is with the gender. 
If you plan on doing a gender reveal you could announce the pregnancy at 10weeks OR another idea is just tell your doctor you want the gender sealed in an envelope and you don’t want to know yet. Then you can find out the gender later on rather than right away buying you a bit more time

We plan on waiting until after the first ultrasound to confirm the baby is healthy and the heart beat is there to tell our family. Probably wait till around 14 weeks or longer to announce to our friends and others

I will wait sometime to share both of my pregnancies were very high risk and I had a lot of complications with my pregnancies. I was 4 months when I announced it to family both times. With the first baby at 18 weeks I was placed in hospital because I was 2 cm it was indeed to late for a cerclage. Thought the second time around would be easy but unfortunately wasn’t. Cervix started charging at 14 week place cerclage just knew that all problems would be solved started having contractions and heart problems ended on at home on bedrest until I delivered also had to go to doctor 3 times a week. Once with regular OB twice with MFM. So I’m afraid of what I’ll have to face next time. I’ll wait until 4 months again.

If I’m able to get pregnant and stay pregnant, we will be waiting because we’ve had loss. 
For your gender party, I guess you could not advertise it as a gender party and then surprise everyone when you show up ?

When I get pregnant with my second, hopefully soon, I literally plan on telling no one until they really start to think I’m pregnant, I just don’t want people’s judgement and want to enjoy my pregnancy with my husband and my daughter

I waited until like 20 weeks this time to announce. I announced at like 8 weeks with my first. I honestly liked having it to myself this time around

Mother's day was 11&6 for me but I wouldn't have announced before 12 weeks.
