My husband got a really bad fungal infection in his ear because he wears ear plugs at work as it’s required because of how loud it is at his work. The moisture caused this to happen and it’s still not going away with antibiotics. He started using the over ear ones and now it’s spread to the back of his ear. Anyone have suggestions for this problem?

I would think he needs to go back to the doctor to get a different medicine. A medication that may work for you may not work for him. Also, tell him to clean his headphones every day with something that will kill germs, not with just a wet cloth with only water.

If it’s truly fungal then the antibiotic won’t do anything because he needs an antifungal med. I’d go back and see exactly what kind of infection it is and make sure he’s getting the right med for it.

Is he re using these equipment because it sounds like it not disposable. He should be cleaning it after each use

For a fungal infection you would need antifungal medication, not antibiotic. He needs to go back to the doctor. On the outside of his ear, he can use Lotrimin.￼

Definitely check back with his dr because antibiotics won’t work for a fungal infection.  If it’s a bacterial infection then he might just need stronger medication.
