How can you tell...

Hey, I have seen so many posts where people say they have the LH surges by tracking with ovulation tests but do not release an egg. Is there anyway you can confirm you release an egg during ovulation? Or is it only something you can confirm with doctors or specialists. I'm 2 months in to ttc and the more info I read the more confused I get. Thanks
