Babies and salt intake? Baby led weening

Can babies have salt? Or do not season their food? Can they have fries ? I’ve read salt isn’t good for their kidneys so I just want to be safe

I give them whatever I’m eating. I don’t add extra salt but if it has it already in it then I will feed it to baby.

Never add salt to foods. Fries should be an occasional treat since there’s no nutritional value there. Stick to healthy foods now while your kid isnt vocal and picky about it lol. There will be plenty of time for fries later on.

I avoided salt religiously until baby was at least 12 months. 
Even now, I try not to expose him to very much.

If my food has salt in it then I give it to my son anyway, even when he first started BLW. When he was really young I tried to season our food very minimally with salt while I was cooking, then add more to my food later so that my son didn’t get as much, but now that he’s 3 I don’t really have restrictions. On the rare occasion that we get McDonald’s I usually ask for unsalted fries for him, but he’s definitely had regular fries before as well.
