February baby turned March baby 👼🏾

Brielle

My baby boy’s due date was 2/24/21.

I was starting to get a little frustrated and discouraged because the date had come and gone and I was showing no signs of labor happening soon. I had my last prenatal appointment on my due date and was told I was not dilated nor effaced. Even more irritated that the month of February was quickly coming to an end also.

Some time around midnight on 2/28, I was awaken from my sleep with contractions. I labored at home till about 3pm in pain and a little nervous to head to L&D, not wanting to get sent back home. By 2:30 pm my contractions were steady and progressing. Finally decided to go to L&D and got admitted around 3pm at 4cm dilated.

After following all my hospital’s protocols and procedures, I opted for laughing gas to take some of the edge off the contraction pain. I couldn’t get the nitrous oxide until my COVID test results came back. Results didn’t come back till after 8pm smh. Meanwhile, I labored in the jacuzzi tub for about an hour. At the last minute I changed my mind, and decided to get an epidural instead because I was stuck at 4.5cm and couldn’t bare the pain anymore. I got my epidural + Pitocin at about 9:30pm, lost my mucus plug around 10:30, and got my water manually broken by 11:45pm. It was time to push a little after midnight. I pushed for about an hour and 20 minutes due to my baby being in a posterior position.

I’m a little sad my baby didn’t make it into February but I’m so glad he’s finally here! Labor was such a crazy experience being a first time mom and not really knowing what to expect but I’d do it all over again 🥺

My Morocco Jataan was born @ 40+5 on 3/1/2021 at 1:44am weighing 8.9lbs and 21.65”. Idk how my little self carried such a big boy but I’m so thankful he’s healthy. He is such a calm, chill little guy. He melts my heart💙 by
