Would you leave your newborn if your other child was having surgery?

My 5 year old is having eye surgery next month, they have to go into her eye muscles and it will take 1-2 hours for the operation itself, plus pre-op and monitoring after.

Im pregnant but at the time of surgery our baby will be a newborn, only a handful of weeks old. My husband and I are both allowed to go to the surgery, but cannot bring our baby. We can’t reschedule it as it has to be done while my hubs is on his paternity leave to ensure someone is there to care for all of us.

I am torn. I don’t want to leave our 5 year old, she will be in another city 2 hours away. But at the same time, our baby will be so small and I will still be recovering myself. I think if I had to, a family member could watch her for the day since we’ll be bottle feeding. But it feels wrong to be gone a whole day from our newborn- but also wrong to be away from our other child during such a pivotal moment.
