Tips on moving out for the first time?

What advice would you give to someone whose moving out for the first time? I’m looking into potentially purchasing a condo, do you recommend buying or renting? And why?

If you're able to buy and it makes sense for you, do it! Interest rates are really low right now. I love having my own place and not having to deal with neighbors on the other side of the wall and can do whatever I want with the place. Be careful with condos. I had a friend who bought a condo as an affordable place to live - not realizing the condo fees would be another $300 a month in addition to his mortgage. He had to take on another job to make ends meet. I lived with my parents for a few years after college to save up for a down payment and I'm so glad I did rather than jumping right into an apartment!

do not sign a contract without going inside and inspecting every inch first. we weren’t allowed to go in and look before signing and ended up noticing literally everything in the place is broken or needs to be replaced.

Don't move out of state. 
Personally I wouldn't live in a condo, or at least wouldn't buy it. I would look for a small house at least with a tiny yard or maybe with a little property, or even no yard but not connected to someone else. 
The condo could become a problem if you have or want pets in the future. Also could be a noise issue. I just wouldn't go that route.  
Be sure that you can actually afford it and leave a little space. Don't make your rent/payments be at the max limit if possible, just go right under so you have a little money to work with for the pay period if you need it. 
If you aren't saving already, start.
Down payment and things are costly but can be cheaper id you have to put down.
