Anemic?

Question

Anyone anemic or have expletive with it? I just found I am but by the time I saw my results and called my doctor for more info they had closed for the weekend. Wondering if this will cause any issue or be dangerous?

I noticed on my results from my glucose test that my hemoglobin and the 2 others the go with were very low but my OB never said anything about it. I’m gonna bring it up my next appointment. But I believe I may be as well. I also bruised really badly from the blood draw from both 1 hour and 3 hour glucose tests

I’m pretty anemic this pregnancy and my doctor is sending me to get an iron transfusion. The iron pills haven’t helped (my prenatal also has iron) so a transfusion is our only option at this point

I’m extremely anemic but it’s not because of an iron deficiency. My body just so happens to be destroying it’s red blood cells quicker than they can be made. It’s also destroying its platelets 🤦🏼‍♀️
The anemia worries me more than the platelets since I’ve always had the platelet issue. Plus, the anemia has made me feel like absolute crap. My heart is working overtime to oxygenate my blood so I can feel it pumping and palpitating. It’s not fun. However, even with the anemia my hematologist and OB aren’t very concerned. I will be getting blood transfusions starting the end of the month to get my counts up so I can safely give birth but my doctors told me my anemia won’t effect my son which gives me peace of mind. Have your doctors mentioned whether or not your anemia is iron related? Sometimes they can give you an iron supplement that can help bring the levels up.

I’m very anemic I was just taking iron supplements twice daily but that wasn’t working. So now I’ve so far received an iron infusion, that helped a little but I also have low platelets that are dropping pretty quickly. They draw blood for my platelets every other day it’s SO annoying but necessary. It can be dangerous when it’s time to give birth. For me, if they can’t get my levels up by the time I have my c section they’ll have to put me to sleep for it ☹️

Low dose iron supplements along with your normal prenatal. Eat lots of broccoli, spinach, kale, etc. I've been anemic off and on my whole life. It's normally easy to get the extra iron you need through diet. Red meats tend to have lots of iron, too.

You just want to address/fix it before labor. In the meantime, you can take supplements. I’ve taken Floridex and Blood builder and definitely recommend blood builder. My OB said to take it with orange juice/ an orange as the acid helps it absorb.

I’ve just been diagnosed as anemic, I’m on iron supplements but my doctor also wants me to get an iron infusion before I give birth. The only issues it’s given me is light headedness and breathlessness, which is normal when anemic
