Why does OB only use Doppler?

Question

I’m curious.. if the Doppler picking up a heartbeat doesn’t necessarily mean baby is okay then why is that all the OB uses in your monthly appointment?
And how do they know they’re hearing babies heart and not placenta or cord?

Heart rate says baby is alive and if it’s too fast or slow, or varied, it can indicate issues that they then will look into further.  I can tell the difference between my pulse, the placenta, and baby so if I can, a trained doctor definitely can lol

They are trained professional so I can assume that they know how to use it probably. The heart rate can indicate issues if too slow for example. Its not like they can do an ultrasound at every appointment ...

Ob listens to a heartbeat for some time to hear if all is well.
You at home are not trained for that, so that is why they day "picking up a heartbeat doesn't mean it is all right".

The OB is a trained professional who uses a doppler on hundreds of patients a week. They also have access to all of your medical records (scans, test results, blood work etc). They have access and knowledge about more ‘pieces of the puzzle’ therefore, are more qualified to say that things are okay.

Because the sound presents differently baby’s heart is more like a gallop and placenta is a whooshing sound. 
Also they check fetal heartbeat to make sure it’s not too slow or too quick. 
But yeah I also wonder this when I drive 2 hours for a Doppler check I can also do at home but then again I’m no doctor 😭😭😭😭😂😂😂
