Flu shot?

Question

Has anyone gotten or plan to get a flu shot this season? If you have gotten your flu shot, have you had any adverse reactions to it? If you have chosen not to get it, why have you come to that decision? I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should get it. I just want to do what's right for the baby. Thanks in advance for any and all responses! :)

I have to get it since i work in a hospital. Its highly recommended for pregnant women to get it cause if we get a severe case of the flu it can harm the baby.

I will be getting the flu shot on Thursday.  I'd rather have a reaction to the vaccine than get the actual flu while pregnant.  I feel that it will be safer for both me and the baby.  It is strongly encouraged by my doctor.

I've never gotten a flu shot and I've only had the flu once in my life. (about 15 yrs ago) each year with the different strands of flu the vaccine becomes less and less effective so I don't feel that it is worth the risk. I just wash my hands A LOT especially when in public settings

I have decided not to get one, because every year growing up I got a horrible several-weeks-long flu only days after receiving the shot; my whole family has.  Last year I didn't get it and still got sick but easily cleared it up with resting and soup and medicine, and it wasn't nearly as bad as it had been in the past when I'd gotten the shot.  This year I plan to drink lots of fluids, take vitamin C, get a lot of rest and wash my hands a LOT.  The flu mutates every year and you can never know if your body or the baby's is strong enough to take it. I'm not risking a vaccine injury or miscarriage, like many women have reportedly suffered from getting the shot while pregnant.

I'm chosing not to get one and my doctor is ok with that decision. I will not be vaccinating my child so don't want to start with a flu shot traveling to my womb and to the baby. Very happy with my decision and happy to see your atleast thinking about it. Good luck on your choice.

Definitely YES. I am not the kind that takes flu shots BUT this year I decided to take it bc as pregnant women were more susceptible to get sick and where I live (DC) apparently will be a bad flu season. I just don't want to take any risks. Plus, the study that said that vaccines are connected to autism is bogus. There are lots of articles being posted by reputable sources saying that the doctor admitted to making the results up. Super sad right? Take care and stay healthy!!

I got the shot because I work on a medical floor in a hospital and we usually get several flu cases during the season. I didn't have any reaction and my arm wasn't even sore. Unlike last year where I could barely move my arm for days.

I got a flu shot. I usually don't get sick. But my husband works at a hospital and sometime around December and January gets really sick. I always end up catching whatever he has since we are so close.  There is no need to expose my little one to the fIu if a shot can help prevent it.

I work from home and I'm usually adverse to getting one. I did get one yesterday at the OBGYN, along with my husband, I can barely eat as it is so the thought of getting the flu for a week or two did me in. 😊
