What is your version of a controlling husband?

I've been married for a long time and sometimes I feel like my husband is too controlling he tells me how much I can drink and who to hang out with he doesn't like it when I talk to my family cuz I think their toxic he has a problem with all of my friends but if they're fine if they live far away and he knows I can't just go to their house but besides that he's a perfect provider he's great our kids I live in a beautiful house and have three very expensive cars everything works great but sometimes I feel very trapped

Materialistic items aren’t everything. Everything you described would be controlling to me. My husband does not tell me what to do or when to do it, just like I don’t with him. I’m my own person.

Yea that’s controlling to the point of borderline abuse. Trapping you away from your other support networks screams that he is insecure. Personally, I would never be willing to listen to those demands from my spouse. I would also never demand those things of anyone else.

Uhm ya he’s overboard. We are building an expensive house, he’s the provider and takes great care of our family and children, and I drive an expensive car. But, he also doesn’t give two shits how much I drink, who I talk to or hang with, or how often I talk to or visit with my family. You can have nice things and a good husband, he doesn’t get to control u because he provides well.

My brother tells his wife and daughters when they can cut their hair, how long and when they should and shouldn’t wear make up. 🤮 somehow I ended up with different expectations than the rest of my family. A healthy relationship is communication and compromise on both sides. No one should be telling the other what they can and can’t do.

I think you should talk to your husband. He may not realize it. He may have even hd a controlling dad and doesnt recognize its wrong. If he tries to be a good husband i would give benefit of the doubt and sit him down and maybe even go to a marriage councelor
