Puppy?

I’m in the 3rd trimester and my husband and I are looking to get a puppy, should we get one before the baby is here? Or wait till she is older?

Between a puppy and newborn you’ll never get sleep. I highly recommend waiting until after baby is born and sleeping well. That way the puppy will meet the baby as part of the family and will adjust better, vs a new baby coming in to a puppy’s space and adding lots of change to the house routine.

A puppy on top of a newborn baby? I could never 🥵 lol that’s like taking care of 2 babies. To me anyway. What if baby has an allergy to pups? I’d wait it out until your baby is older😋 that’s just my opinion!

With my first I had a puppy when i was pregnant. It was a lot of work but honestly I miss my pup, it was so fun watching them grow together! But I found I couldn’t train the puppy to the extent I wanted him trained with my daughter on my hip all the time. I’m pregnant with my second now and we are debating on getting a puppy as my daughter loves dogs and is missing her old boy, I definitely would chose a more low maintenance breed as I found my pit bull was sooo much work with a baby! Everyone is different but being a stay at home mom I find I have the time to be able to juggle a puppy and a baby, best of luck momma!

I would for sure wait, a puppy is a handful in itself, add a newborn and realize you’ll have a ton of extra and unnecessary stress. Plus you’ll likely wind up neglecting the dog in some fashion as your baby will come first for everything. Puppy training is super important and is hours of your day that needs to be put in to end up with a good dog. It doesn’t just happen! I would certainly wait until your baby is at least a toddler before brining in a dog. I was planning on getting a golden retriever, had been looking for over a year and had a breeder I put a deposit with; when I was called to say they had a puppy expected for me, was the same week I found out I was pregnant. It was heartbreaking to turn down the puppy, but it was the right thing to do for us. Now I’m 30 weeks and so so glad we did not get a puppy! There’s so much to do already and it just wouldn’t be fun IMO.

I would never in a million years begin to even think of adopting a puppy while having a child under the age of like 6.  Nooooo way.  My husband has a 12 year old pug and she's honestly too much for me. Can't stand the neediness and messes 😓

Good god. 😂 no way. I love puppies but I would rather eat razor blades. A puppy is a newborn so two newborns. No 😂 my dog Max when he was a puppy would cry and be so needy all the time. Plus his sharp puppy teeth. Omg. Ouch. Definitely wait until your baby is old enough to know and want a dog.

We waited till our daughter was 8 months old to get a puppy. Got an English lab, he just turned a year. He’s so great with her, they’re bestfriends
