When do babies sit up unassisted?

My son is 6 months and a week and still needs assistance with sitting on his own. Just worried that he may be behind the curve.

I just talked to my doc about this today! I said he’s not sitting unassisted yet and he said “yeah well he’s not really supposed to be yet” and then he explained that he still has some really good upper body strength and the independent sitting would come

I felt totally comfortable with her sitting up on her own. around 7 months. She would sit for a minute or 2 at 6 months but definitely wasn’t steady to be left like that

My son started sitting up on his own at 7.5 months - so no worries! And btw your son is absolutely adorable! ♥️
