It’s not proven to be safe but it’s not proven to be unsafe. I’d say proceed with caution and don’t use it regularly, but once or twice a week when you’re really having trouble sleeping probably is fine. They’ve not done any studies on humans but animal studies are showing that there are some potential benefits to taking melatonin while pregnant. There’s no known risks, so again, proceed with caution. 
Personally, I’ve taken it a couple of times when I couldn’t sleep and my midwife wasn’t concerned. She said that for the most part, if a natural supplement is truly BAD in pregnancy, we know for sure. Like black cohosh should never be taken in pregnancy because it can cause contractions and even miscarriage in early pregnancy. Other natural supplements like melatonin that are naturally occurring in the body and just give you a little boost are most likely not going to cause problems.

In the beginning about 8 weeks i was taking 2mg of melatonin gummies to help me get some rest because i had insomnia. I’m now 13 weeks and baby is healthy and all blood work came back with no issues!

I looked it up online bc I was having trouble sleeping and from what I read it made it sound like it’s not a good idea. I would talk to your doctor though and see what they say for sure if you feel you really need it!

It is not in the list of approved medications from my doctor. I used to take it all the time before pregnancy but I have stopped. Instead i take unisom at night (it also helps with nausea!)

It says on the bottle to not take if pregnant or nursing so I wouldn’t unless you get a doctors okay.

My doc says no, especially in the first trimester. I usually stopped taking it around 6DPO each month just in case. 
I’m going to ask her again as my pregnancy progresses. Last pregnancy I had severe insomnia from 9-39 weeks. To the point that I was physically ill from being so tired.

Many women on this app say it’s a big no no. 
I have taken melatonin for the past 2 years and my dr said it was totally fine in my pregnancy. I’m 29 weeks and take 10mg every night. All is good. Can check with your dr also.
