How long did you keep your babe in a carrier?

My girl is about 19 months and I get so much shit from friends and family for her being in a back carrier. They think it spoils her. (Which I know it doesn't)

When we go out I don't like her to get in germy carts and also I just feel safer with her on me. And if I put her in her stroller she immediately screams and wants out.

Also if you do toddler wear, what carrier do you use? I just bought an ergo carrier off marketplace..but I feel like my girl isn't comfortable.

I want to buy a Tula or Lillie but I don't know if it's worth money.
