Ovarian torsion. Do not recommend. 😱

Jessica

7wks pregnant. Woke up the husband yesterday for some sex (mornings are the only time lately, with evening digestive issues)- felt something strange mid-thrust, and promptly started having intense right side/back pain as soon as we were done. Headed to the ER pretty quickly, which is a first for me. Spent most of the day in some of the most intense pain of my life (my 2 unmedicated births fall below this on the scale), begging ER staff for more of the heaviest drugs they have, which were barely doing a thing. The ER and OB docs called my fertility doc and narrow down to either appendicitis, burst ovarian cyst... or torsion. Finally around 7pm we decide to go in for diagnostic surgery- pain is better (on morphine AND oxy) but still not really going away, ultrasound and manual exams are inconclusive. Sure enough- rt ovary is twisted. Wake up out of surgery blissfully pain free. And I told my husband we’re never having sex again. 😅

Baby was fine on ultrasound yesterday, and I’m hoping to see them again before we discharge today. But holy crap ladies! After an IVF cycle that was low on the risk scale for OHSS...I was truly not expecting this.
