Would you rather have your spouse would 2nd or 3rd shift?

My husband currently works second shift, which is 4pm to 1am. It’s not ideal, but we’re doing okay with it. 
However, he has the opportunity to work third shift, which would be four, ten hour shifts. Maybe midnight-11am including his break. He’s interested because it has a $2 shift premium. 
I’m fully supportive of what he wants to do, but I worry that we’ll see even less of him due to the opposite schedules. We have a two year old, and we’ll have a newborn come September. 
Has anyone had experience with both or had a preference? Pros / cons of each?

It depends on your schedule really.. The way I see it.. In the new schedule he'll have more family time?
If you come home from work/toddler gets home from school, I guess that would be around 4-6pm? (considering our local standards for dayshift) 
In the current schedule, he'll be already gone to work when you get home or he's getting ready for work?
In the new schedule, he'd be home at 11am.
By 4-6 pm he would have had about 6-8 hrs of sleep (considering a minimal commute)
So he'll be able to spend those 3-6 hours with his family he'd usually be working?
I wonder how often you see him now? 
I personally work night shifts and wouldn't want anything else.. I go to bed straight after work and when I wake up, there is no people in the stores (they're still doing their dayjob) there's plenty of daylight to do stuff (which is amazing in summer, a lot of sunbathing, walking, swimming,... goes on there 😂)
I think because there is SOOO much time between waking up and going back to work.. I get so much more stuff done around the house, I'm more relaxed with the kids, or just in general and I "don't have to get up for work" which may seem a bit silly.. But it's a lot nicer to get up and do fun things, or spending time with your family or doing things for your family.. Than to get up to do a job because you have to be there at a certain time.. Like.. You always wake up in the right mindset or something... 
It's a bit different now that we have a baby as he doesn't go to daycare and either my husband or I need to be up for him. But I'm reducing my hours temporarily (until he goes to school) to make that work. 
When it comes down to your newborn, it depends on what the plan will be tbh?

The big thing to consider is when will he sleep and how is the sleep going to be with whatever else is going on in the house. My husband and I worked a variety of night shifts and sleep is key!

My boyfriend works 3rd shift. But he has a great schedule and never works more than 3 nights in a row without 2-3 days off. We do see each other less because of it, but we embrace it! He loves his job and i love mine. I work 7a-330p and he works 6p-6a. I am gone in the morning before he gets home but we see each other in passing after I’m done with work and he goes to work. Like I said, it’s not ideal but we truly have accepted it because we both understand we each love our jobs and both put in efforts to see each other any chance we get. I think either shift your spouse chooses will have pros and cons- as they all do! But embrace it and believe it will work and it will! 😊

The over night shift is great to spend time with family my husband and I realize. He has been doing 11-7 for two years now BUT it does wear him down after a while and does need to switch to day shifts every summer to help. Over night shift have been proven to lead to many health risks and in my country it’s not allowed to let someone work for longer than 3 years in a purely over night position

My boyfriend has 2 different shifts. For 2 weeks he will work 5 days, 4am-2pm. For 2 weeks, he works 4 days, 2pm-2am. I personally hate the 12hr shifts. He is gone ALL freaking day and I only see him on Friday and the weekend..but chances are he will spend a good chunk of Friday sleeping (till like 7/8pm lol)
