Am I a shitty person?

A close friend of mine and I were messing around and he asked me to be FWB or get in a relationship with him, I said no and had told him that multiple times before we started messing around. I feel like a complete bitch because I knew that he wanted a relationship (not with me but just one in general) before we messed around. Please don't beat around the bush, does this make me a shitty person?

Well in my opinion you shouldn't be messing around with him if he's a close friend. But I don't think you're a shitty person. You probably need to talk to him about it and stop messing around with him before he starts developing feelings for you and you hurt him. That can also screw up your friendship.
