Lie detector test

My boyfriend & I have been dating for almost a year and he recently brought up that he wanted us to both do a lie detector test. I said no, because there is no reason why we would have to do that if we trust each other. I trust him 100% and the thought of doing that wouldn’t even cross my mind. He now thinks I’m hiding something and I’m cheating (I’m not) and he broke up with me. Am I in the wrong for not wanting to do the test? I don’t see the point.
