Older child is extra clingy?

Question

For those who are having their 2nd, is your older child extra clingy? Our 19 mo old used to let her dad put her to sleep, nap, etc. She still loves playing with him during the day but she only wants me when it’s bed time or needs comfort. It’s getting harder as tummy gets bigger. It’s like she knows change is coming and worries mommy to leave her. What are you doing to prepare her?

Yes definitely finding this. I’m just trying to go with it and keep meeting her needs. I’m assuming it’s just reassurance they are looking for and to force her to daddy will have the opposite affect !

Going through this sort of, but the opposite. I am usually with my two yr old all day since I work from home and I am the one to usually bathe him, change him, etc. however the last couple weeks he kicks and screams and gives me such a hard time and wants daddy to do everything! It’s like he has resentment towards me, and I’ve been having such a hard time dealing with it.

Our oldest did a little bit of this when baby number 2 was on the way. She was slightly clingy, but she also wanted to be super involved with everything....fixing up the nursery, prepping for baby (washing clothing, picking out diaper bag, etc). We had her help out a lot. We also got her a cute book about being a big sister, and a "special baby doll" for her to take care of when we had to focus on baby. The book and baby doll helped a lot, and she was awesome when the baby came (not jealous, not throwing fits, etc.).

Haha yes except our first born is almost 10. He’s been super excited all the way until the last 6 weeks or so.. he’s still super excited but he’s also super clingy. He doesn’t want to spend time with anyone else but me and his dad. Any little booboo that he usually just brushes off he comes crying to me. He gets upset over very little things. I knew it was coming tho. My poor babe, almost 10 years as the only child is a big change. We have little mommy and son daddy and son dates planned in the next couple weeks.
