Help a girl out

Hey y’all so I’m supposed to start my period today but haven’t yet. When I got home this morning from family breakfast I had a sudden urge to pee so I went but then as soon as I got up from the toilet, I had the sudden urge to pee again but nothing came out. I left the house with my husband to run some errands and when I got home I had a sudden urge to pee again but this time it hurt when I peed and I still have the sudden urge to pee but I don’t actually need to. This has been going on since this morning. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it an infection or a sign or pregnancy. I’m so confused. I don’t want to go to the store and waste money on a pregnancy test only to have it come back negative
