gestational and 34w2d
I’m worried my OB isn’t telling me the full scope of what’s going on with me and baby.
I have antenatal testing twice a week starting today and again on Monday. I’m looking at the stats online and I’m seeing that a lot of high risk pregnancies are put in priority for twice a week antenatal testing. I was never told I’m high risk, just have to watch my sugars with my glucose meter.
Here’s what I know on my end so far:
• baby has been measuring big ever since 22 weeks (but I am constantly refuting this because I’m being told to never believe ultrasound weights, they’re never right or accurate)
• baby has been head down since week 28
• as far as the anatomy scan has gone at 22 weeks, baby seems to be fine and all working parts were visible
• I’m not high risk, simply gestational diabetic and I’ve been getting compliments from my ob on how well I’ve bounced my numbers back from my first glucose test (260) to the three hour test (190) both taken a month apart from each other
• I’ve adjusted my diet and upped my water intake over anything else. Exercise or walking was cause for concern because I can barely walk as it is much yet get out of bed on my own. I have terrible PSD/PGP and have had it terribly since the beginning of my second trimester.
Has anyone else ever been gestational and have to do antenatal testing twice a week til birth? I’m worried sick that I’m just being led on to believe everything is fine when the reality is that something could very well be wrong with baby? Can I decline this? I was referred to it but can I very well decline this until birth? I don’t want to do this, much less twice a week.. especially if it’s unnecessary! but!! they’re not telling me I’m high risk or if there’s reason for concern. So why? I’m a nervous wreck you guys 🥺
**** update!!! Thank you for all of your input! I had my appointment yesterday and baby is growing proportionately and though I am gestational diabetic, my OB, nutritionist, and practitioner have all come to the consensus that I am not in a high risk zone and don’t seem to be projected to be based on how good my BP, A1C, general daily blood sugar and water intake have been every three days. Also how well I’ve adjusted my eating and walking. So they’ve adjusted to my requests based on that. I only have to come in for labs twice a week and an ultrasound once a week for baby’s sizing in these final weeks. I’m not on insulin but I am on Metformin and I’m not expected to birth any sooner than my due date 5/4. I’m within normal bounds of giving birth. If I reach 41 weeks I will be induced.
I thought it was strange someone said I should just ASK my dr if I’m being kept in the dark. Why should I have to ask about my own personal information or be put in a position I have to ask about it to begin with? Haha that’s a bit strange imo.
Anyway! All is fine and well and even though I’m not classified high risk, they’re pretty much operating and evaluating me as if I am. So I guess I may as well be high risk lol. Thank you for all your helpful feedback! I appreciate it!
