IUD details from a fellow iud lover!

Hi ladies, how you doing?

Listen, after reading and conducting 💫research 💫 on IUD procedures on this app and gauging some of the informative tips and feedback, I understand that there has been majority of painful experiences, albeit, some postive feedback about IUD insertion.

I'm here to give you some of my personal negative and also positive experiences when going forward with this type of birth control.

Now, the IUD details. Honestly, this birth control is my first and probably be my last. The reason why I chose this is because I didn't want to go through with worrying whether I miss taking a dose from the pill, or track the days I've taken it. I chose the IUD with an effective protection of 5 years. I chose the copper IUD because I didn't want any hormonal dosage and eliminate the risk of pregnancy.

During my visit, my gynecologist tested me for STI's and pregnancy. During the actual day of insertion, I had my legs spread open and the doctor went in to disinfect and clean the area down there. Now, my gyn proceed to measure my cervix length and Holy fuck let me tell you how much this hurt. It hurt so so much and it was so painful. To the point where after 35 mins on the table, I had to reschedule. I took 2 advil pills prior to this appointment so I knew for a fact I would be expedting this pain from the iud insertion, not the measuring.

But here's the thing, i got my iud inserted. And you know what? I have the secret to how to reduce any type of inflammation and pain you will get. The secret? Schedule your IUD insertion a couple of days after your period. Take your advil, and go through the disinfection stage, breath, then bam! The IUD insertion and pain will be barely there.

Post insertion, I didn't feel anything. Literally, I went out and did some light walking and stretching. It was awesome. Periods though, let's that about that, you'll encounter painful cramps. But advil and heating pads will help alleviate the pain. You'll encounter this cramping after 6 months. Im on the 8th month now, and during my menstruation, I barely suffer cramps and lethargy.

So that's that. If you want to get an iud, go a couple of days after your period. Take your pills and pain and cramping will be limited.

Let me know if you have any questions!
