39+4 waiting for elective induction

I’m pregnant with baby #3 and opted to be added to the induction list beginning at 39 weeks due to a positive GBS result and a super quick labor with my second. I went into spontaneous labor with my first two pregnancies, but given the circumstances, wanted to err on the side of caution.

On Monday, I was dilated to 4cm and 70% effaced. While I know I can be dilated that much for some time, my main concern is that I will start contracting and be so far dilated that I won’t make it to the hospital in time (we live half an hour away) to have the two doses of antibiotics which need to be given four hours apart. Baby has been grinding it’s head in my cervix all week too, so I’m sure I’ve progressed further over the last four days.

I called the hospital on Wednesday and was told they can’t tell me where I fall on the induction list. Today (Friday) I called my OB office and explained the situation and my concerns. The nurse I spoke to was super friendly, but gave me the text book response of “go to the hospital if you’re having more than one contraction lasting one minute every five minutes” which of course I know from delivering two babies already. I just felt like there was no consideration of my specific situation given.

Tonight I went on a long walk and am feeling lots of pressure down low, but no contractions yet. Hopefully this is a sign that things are moving along, but I’m still nervous I won’t make it in time! Any thoughts or just good vibes would be much appreciated 💕
