Baby shower before or after the baby is actually born?

I am way too early to be thinking about this but I am curious what everyone has done or plans to do! I see benefits to both!

Before for me but my son is trying to break out early so if that happens and he arrives before the shower, I’ll either cancel the shower all together or bring my son to the shower. The only reason I would cancel, is due to covid and having a newborn. Other than that, I see ZERO issue with showers after baby is born even if it’s planned that way like the shower was planned knowing the baby would be there.

With my first, we had our baby shower before when I was around 33 weeks I think. With my second, my sil threw us a much smaller sip n see party a few months after he was born.

I’ve only been to 1 baby shower where the baby was already born. She came early.

I had a huge baby shower planned but because of Covid it got canceled so I’ll just be throwing a big party for her birthday or when covid allows ￼
