Advice on lightening up?

Sometimes my girl is trying to be funny with things and I just have a hard time lightening up. It's always when we are trying to do something, like brushing her teeth, or bringing me her cup or changing her diaper. Most time I am not in the mood to play. Anyone else?

Sounds like you’re dealing with PPD. You should talk to a doctor about that.

Before you know it she will be grown and you’ll wish you had enjoyed all the little moments more and that you could go back I have  a 15 year old girl and a 14 year old girl and now a 15 week old boy now am older am so much more patient and loving every scream tantrum bit of happiness and wish wen I was younger I had done this with my girls and not been more concerned about getting the job done or being on time don’t get me wrong I loved them with all my heart but was worn out and couldn’t always see the funny side and just tried to rush through things to get the job done my girls were only 18 months apart so I would finish with one and start with the other and of course I did enjoy loads I suppose I wish I had just lightened up more ❤️❤️💙 teenagers are no we’re near as cheerful and easily pleased enjoy it while it lasts 😂

I feel the same during times where we really need to get going or if I'm super tired (I'm 33 weeks and she's 3.5). I try to laugh with her for a second and then be like "ok let's tone it down and remember, brushing your teeth is not playtime and you can play when you're done" or something along those lines. Girl when I bend down to help her get her arm in her shirt and she thinks it's funny to push it through every wrong hole when my back is about to break... It's hard not to lose patience lol

Maybe being silly in a way that helps move things along? Like brushing teeth, I’ll say ahhh and open my mouth with my daughter and sometimes I’ll make silly noises or sing with my mouth open and that keeps her mouth open copying me while she laughs so it helps me to get through brushing her teeth quickly. Or if it’s too much silliness I’ll just say “you’re such a silly girl, I just love you! Ok now let’s finish up!” And just cheerfully acknowledge her being funny while moving things along. I try to give as much as I can so that when I really mean business my daughter will listen because she knows I play with her all the time. I also try to take in those moments and put things into perspective. If we don’t have anywhere to be, we aren’t late or have any reason to get through something quickly I tell myself I can take 30 seconds to make silly memories with my kids that are going to grow up sooo fast. It helps me to just look at my kids and be in the moment often instead of always trying to just get through the tasks of the day.
