How do you clean your innie belly button?

I once tried to clean my innie belly button with a q-tip and for some reason I almost threw up. It's so closed up though that I can't put anything else in it to try to clean it. So I just rub soap on my stomach and let soapy water run over it in hopes that cleans it

A wet Q-tip, then a damp one followed by a dry one for drying ofcourse. That way I can make sure it's fully clean. 
I've noticed using a wet/damp Q-tip does not irritate the belly button much.
