Tablets for Babies?

This is random 🙃
Im a soon to be single mom who doesn’t really watch much tv. I’ll be moving into a new place and still not really feeling buying a tv even though it’s become a household staple. It got me thinking about how babies are often babysat by TVs and their own personal tablets these days and I’m really not about that life. 
However, I’m wondering if my baby will be technologically behind if she isn’t like most kids who’ve been accustomed to technology at an early age in this even faster tech age we live in. 
I told y’all this was random. 
I really just want to keep her around developmental toys, books, and other tangible things that’ll foster discovery and play instead of introducing her to tech early on. 
Anyone else thinking about this or just my ass? lol

My daughter has no clue how to work out iPad apart from a few developmental games she plays occasionally. 
It’s 1000% doable, you just to have to commit all your free time to entertaining them.

It’s not a good habit to start in my opinion. I will not give Jen to my daughter until she’s much older like high school if even then. We don’t even let our 18 month old play with our phones. 
My niece who is 11 was given an iPad and an very early age.  She became addicted to it. It was always a fight to get her to eat or shower or do homework because she wouldn’t put it down. She never played outside. And now had a weight issue as well as eye problems. ( which may or may not be related) 
Not worth it for us !

My five year old does not have a tablet and prob never will because I’ve seen my friends kids get addicted to them. He does watch cartoons sometimes in the mornings and evenings but def not something he’ll get addicted too. In my opinion, having them watch some educational tv shows is better than getting a tablet

We have a tv, but my 2 year old has never used a tablet, and honestly never will unless there is some reason to for school or something. I just don’t think they are necessary.

So the general rule is no screen before 2. However after that, there are benefits to providing it at limited times during the day for educational apps. It's going to be part of thier future for one thing, and learning a device like an ipad and using the educational apps stimulate healthy brain development. iPads are not necessarily a bad thing if they are used correctly! But it seems like you are aware of dangers of it being a babysitter, so I think whatever you choose will be just fine!

So I’ve been SUPER against iPads until my niece has to take extra classes after school in elementary school because she was expected to know how to navigate a computer and iPad. I’m waiting a while but I’m sure I’ll get my kids a cheap iPad with a good case and be sure there’s only educational stuff on it. 
A friend of mines son went from non-verbal at 5 years old to talking your ear off within 6 months of having access to YouTube. 
Basically there are a lot of benefits and yea monitor it but I think it’s kind of how things are now days if that makes sense.

We have a tv but my 2.5 yo only watches maybe one show a day or none at all. The only time he has access to my phone is if we FaceTime family or I show him pictures. He will not be getting a screen of his own for a long time!

My 3 year old didn’t get to watch TV until she was around 1.5- 2 years old. Even then it’s less than 2 hours a day. She has no idea how to use a phone other than to take a picture on it. The less screen time the better in my opinion. She knows how to eat at a restaurant without a phone or tablet in her face. Something I rarely see anymore.

I have a 19 month old and she doesn’t watch tv or have a tablet or anything. Sometimes the tv will be on in the background (news or something not kids tv show) but we play with her or she plays solo. I am not worried about her being behind, that is not a skill I care about her excelling at 😆
