New car suggestions?

I’m looking to buy a new car (not necessarily new, but new to me lol). I haven’t bought a car since I was 19 and it was my parents second car they didn’t need anymore, so I knew all of the history and was familiar with it.

Now I’m 24 and just had a baby. I also have 2 large dogs which occasionally I’ll take in my car to go to the park or the vet or wherever.

Currently I have a 2007 Ford Focus. It’s not terrible, but we get a lot of snow here and where I live and work is notoriously bad for plowing. We’re hoping to move, but still I need something that can drive better in the elements. But l my car rattles and it’s older now, i want something where I feel safe with my baby.

Definitely on a budget, but what are some good cars I should check out?

Edit for clarify: looking for a good mix of safety, good terrain ability (moderate snow), and gas mileage. I’m not planning on having more kids for at least 2-3 more years, but eventually I’d like to have more so want space but not “bulky” or soccer mom lol. Thanks!
