Birth control

Is it okay to take the pill for a long time? I've been on the pill for about 6 months and idk if I'm supposed to have breaks in between. I don't use it as a contraceptive method, I use it because I had a few follicles in ovary and also because it helps with my acne. I just rest from the pill meanwhile I'm having my period (1 week).

PD: Since I'm on the pill I haven't had cramps anymore, is amazing ! But I'm afraid that if I stop taking them the cramps will have twice its intensity
