New here + new baby
Hi everyone.
Just trying to get in the habit of using the tracking features on this app. But also wanted to utilize the community since I really don’t have any mom friends! This is my first baby so just dealing with the huge learning curve. For anyone who’s curious, my birth story is below, along with a picture of our little peanut.
Our sweet little Eleanor Jane was born via c-section on 4/4/2021 weighing 8lbs 6 oz, and 21.75 inches long (all that heigh comes from her dad...).
I had GD during my pregnancy but was diet controlled (please feel free to ask questions if you need any advice). But this resulted in my doctor not wanting me to go past 41 weeks. So I scheduled to be induced 4/2 the day after my due date.
Overall it went well, I was maybe 1 cm dilated when I started, not at all effaced. They did a cervadil patch overnight. Didn’t do a whole lot but I was experiencing contractions - I didn’t really feel them I could just see them on the monitor. In the morning they started pitocin and that slowly ramped up my contractions throughout the day. My water was leaking starting around 11 (I didn’t know it was my water until later). My water fully ruptured around 3-4 and contractions did start getting a little more intense. I never found them painful, but it was just a lot to have to focus on - very weird feeling. I chose to use nitrous for a little bit starting around 7-8 and by 10 it wasn’t really doing it for me anymore. Either I was becoming immune to it, or my contractions we getting stronger. I got an epidural around 11:30 and I was checked, I had finally made a little progress. I was 3-4 cm dilated! I was finally able to get some sleep. In the morning around 8 they checked me again, I was ready to go!! I was shocked. By 8:30 they had me start pushing. I pushed for 3.5 hours and doctors told me her head just couldn’t get past my pelvis. I ended up getting a c-section, which is ok since all I cared about was getting a healthy baby.
She is an absolute sweetheart, very calm baby (so far), & loves to eat (I feel like a 24/7 buffet). I’ve definitely had a few meltdowns over nothing. But slowly I’m starting to feel a little more normal.
Anyways, if you’re still reading, thanks!
