ECV? What to expect

Has anyone had an ECV, I'm scheduled to have one next Saturday and it sounds horrible! I'm a bit anxious about it 😳

I had one done and would 100% do it again. My first flipped frank breech overnight at 37 weeks, woke me up from a dead sleep! I had the ECV done at 37+2. Before the procedure, I had to drink water like a fish to make sure my fluid levels were high. At the hospital they did a blood draw to check my platelet levels in the very rare off chance of the procedure sending me into labor or needing a c-section. Then I had an ultrasound done to check fluid levels and the specialist came in to observe the ultrasound to see where baby was positioned (by that time she had kicked herself into footling breech). Then I was sent back to L&D where they gave me medicine to stop contractions (which was honestly the worst part because it made me shake uncontrollably afterwards). Once that kicked in they set me up with nitrous oxide to use at my discretion. The actual ECV was over in 30 seconds, and the really painful part (worse than labor tbh) was only about 5 seconds when he had the baby halfway turned so fully horizontal. I just stayed calm, went to my happy place, and sucked on that nitrous like no tomorrow. The key is to keep your abdominals relaxed as much as possible. By the end I had sucked so much nitrous I was literally laughing my ass off (I'm one of those who actually has the laughing reaction to laughing gas) and the whole room was cracking up with me. The specialist said it was actually good for me to be laughing so hard because my abdominals would help drive baby down more into my pelvis. I hope this alleviates some anxiety. When I had one done all I could find were horror stories online or just the medical facts of what happens, very few seem to share the positive. Feel free to ask me any questions!

I had one done at 36 weeks and it didnt work. It was very uncomfortable and got painful towards the end because they were trying so hard and pushing on me with alot of force.  Ending with a c-section because baby never flipped and it went well.

Not to scare you even more but my experience with it was horrible. It was the worst pain of my life and didnt work. I had a 75% chance of it working and it went down to less than 25% within 3 attempts. I had a lot of extra fluid and a small baby. Theres also the chance of an emergency csection with it if the procedure goes wrong. Mine ended up in a csection 2 weeks later since vaginal breech birth providers are almost impossible to find in my area
Id try spinning babies and a chiropractor before i ever considered doing another one
