Universal Healthcare???

Question

I currently work at a hospital so I enjoy the job security however I really want to transition into using my experience in insurance in a work from home position. I'm worried though that if universal healthcare happens one day I will be out of a job. There is no opportunity for me to work from home with my current employer. Do you ladies think universal healthcare will get rid of the commercial insurance companies in the future?

I would not even let that possible concern dictate anything. I don’t care what side people are on politically. Do you have any idea how much money these companies make? There is no way they’ll just go away. As someone else mentioned it will more than likely be a hybrid system of private and public at least for quite a number of years at the beginning. We still live in a capitalistic society. Those companies won’t go away. Even then, I don’t really see it happening.

Guess what! I have just accepted a work from home job with an insurance company with a nice pay raise 🤑🤑 I stepped out on faith and now I can spend more time with my family by not having a 2 hour daily round trip commute. I'm so grateful. Thanks ladies for your support.

Doubtful. You will probably have a choice between your private healthcare plan and whatever the universal healthcare plan is. That is probably years away IF it ever happens.

I also think it is doubtful private insurance will ever go away completely and more likely there would be a private option for those who could afford it.

Doubtful. It would probably be more likely to make a mixed system like we have here in Australia. There is Medicare for all, but also private insurance if you want to buy it. universal healthcare is so unlikely to pass in the us I think your job will be safe.
