Let’s Focus On What We Have in Common
Do Caucasian people realize that a lot, if not most, African-Americans have white colored ancestors? That means that many African-Americans living in the south, including myself, are related to our racist white neighbors who hate us. It’s so ironic because we don’t see each other as family, but we are according to DNA.
My DNA test came back confirming that I have both British & Irish ancestry. That’s 21% Northwestern European. I have a white great great grandfather. I am the immediate result of biracial ancestors. In comparison, my Caucasian husband is 99% Northwestern European, but 0.5% Nigerian (tiny BUT STILL THERE🤣). He literally thought he was mixed with everything except black based off what his family told him (the lies 🥱).
All people seem to be able to focus on when they see my husband and I together is how different we are based on our race. They fail to see that we really aren’t that different at all from each other, we actually share much of the same ancestry. When I look at the endless list of people who are possibly related to me based on my DNA.. there are more white people that show up then black people. Yet no one out here let’s me forget that I’m black and therefore an outsider. It’s interesting 🧐.
My point is that we are all related. People should focus more on what they have in common with one another instead of their differences, that is how we build better. Something to think about before you treat someone like a “foreigner.”
