Is this normal OB stuff?

I am 10 weeks +5days pregnant. 
It seems whenever I have a concern I am sent to the ER by my OB office. First one was due to this lump in my lower right abdomen (which ended up being constipation sorry tmi) then just now I was rear ended and everyone online says they went to their OB to be checked out but when I called mine they said go to emergency. It's hard for me to sit in a waiting room for 4 plus hours and then another 4plus hours when I get into a room. I have a toddler so kinda hard to get away for that long. Is this normal to be sent to the ER so easy?

I'm kinda going through the same thing. I'm about to look for another dr. 
They either tell me to consult a packet of info they gave me or go to the ER. 
What's the point of having a doctor if they won't see us?!?

The er for lump in the tummy is weird. They should have been able to tell you it was constipation.  The car accident yes that does sound appropriate to go to the er. Because they will check out your whole body and not just the baby.

I can understand their logic, but they should at least see you. If you had a lump, they wouldn't have the ability to test you for everything (US and MRI). What if they told you everything was fine and it turned out to be an actual mass and not constipation? Big trouble for you and them. Same thing with the rear-ending. They don't have all the equipment. They could've at least cleared you from an OB standpoint, but they can't clear you for a neck injury or back injury the way the ER doctor can.

If your on didn't have the equipment to investigate the lump, it makes sense that they sent you to the hospital. They just wanted to make sure everything is ok instead of sending you home. And it absolutely makes sense that they sent you when you were in a car accident.

My hospital says that for every damn thing. It's annoying but there is no "other doc" option. It's hospital policy evidently.

You need a new doc. Mine would not send me to the ER for everything. That's crazy for you and crazy for your insurance

I am seen at a military facility and we are referred to the ER (at a military hospital) for pretty much anything happening under 20 weeks. I haven't had any complications yet to see if they would actually make me an appt, but they always say any bleeding or strong cramping that we have to go to the ER. It's at least a half an hour drive and hours of waiting. Unfortunately I don't have any other choice though. It's weird.

Is this normal OB stuff?
