What kind of dog should we get?

Question

Me and my husband are going to get a puppy but not sure what kind to get. We want a breed that will be good around children so no breeds known for attacking, not shed to much since they will be a inside/ outside dog. Also that will make a good guard dog as well so a large breed not a small one. Also of course we want it to be a breed we find cute.  What breed of dog do you think we should get? Google dog bite statistics. German shepards are high on that list - 3rd actually (under pitbulls and Labrador retrievers). Big dogs like Bernese, Great Danes, Great Pyranees, and Boxers are often touted as the best family dogs (large breeds). Do your research very thoroughly as ALL DOGS can bite. No matter how much you train them, it's always a "risk". However with proper training and trigger awareness, you can mitigate bite situations.

My Great Pyrenees is wonderful with my children. He’s a livestock dog, very protective of his “flock” (us lol). He’s not super energetic, fairly independent but also quite stubborn. He’s definitely not the type of breed you get to teach it tricks... just the basic sit, stay, come, quiet. He also sheds a LOT a few times a year, spring and end of summer. He’s the best! 10/10 would recommend. 
He’s about 115-120lbs, fully grown.

Labradoodle or poodle but one of your requirements may not be possible, no matter what dog you get. Any dog can attack someone for any reason. Even if it’s a breed not known for it, it is still a possibility. Good luck!!!

My advice is find a dog that fits your lifestyle. If you or someone likes to go for runs, find a bread that will most likely enjoy running with you. If you more laid back find one that isn't super active. 
A poodle/mix would be great fit for shedding. Pitbulls use to be known as nanny dogs. 
I won't get a working breed dog if you don't have enough room/yard for them to run. 
Any animal can snap and bite anyone or attack if feel threatened enough. A animal is as good has its owner or base on training.

So many breeds are ruined for me after working with them. But I love golden retrievers, Great Pyrenees ( but do she’d a lot). & honestly lab/ Pyrenees mixes are awesome! Overall very friendly dogs. Would NOT recommend German shepherds.

Pitbull! I got mine at 6 months and he was 3 when i had my daughter. He's been nothing but gentle, loving and protective over her. He is not jealous and understands that she comes first and is just happy to come along. They cuddle together and play together. Truly, he loves her! 
I know pits have a bad wrap but its because they are muscular strong dogs people have taught them to fight for money. Ppl thought doing that was cool and they are these tough guard dogs. They got overbred and now the shelters are filled with them because they're over populated. If you got a young one, you train them properly and always assert yourself as pack leader. Also, keeping any dog active and exhausting their built up energy is key to preventing aggression. They listen much better when they don't have all that energy built up. 
I would look into the most kid friendly and docile dogs. I would avoid Rottweilers, shephards, and even labs. Avoid dachshund, jack russell terriers, chihuahua and any other dog that will suffer from little man syndrome.

I would say a black lab, they are the sweetest pups. My dog is part lab and he is the best little guard dog.
