Not Good News- Neural Tube Defects
So I received a call from the Perinatologist a little while ago that our little girl has an increased risk of having a neural tube defect. Their cutoff is 2.5, and her results were 2.52. The doctor said since it's only slightly elevated that I can retake the blood test to see if we get a different result. And in most cases like mine, the baby turns out to be fine, but she can't say anything about my case for sure. They also were able to bump up my anatomy ultrasound to tomorrow instead of us having to wait until the 14th. We should find out more information with the ultrasound, as they can usually pick these things up on them.
Also, since I am now considered high risk, I will also have to have more monitoring with with ultrasounds. We also have the option to do an amnio.
I know her results came back only slightly elevated, but my husband and I are still really nervous. Does anyone know anything about this or know anyone who was in a similar situation? Anything reassuring would be so helpful and appreciated!
